How to Register for University Commencement

Registration will open on Wednesday, April 3.

Student Information

Graduating students will receive a notification from their individual school with further instructions on how to register for University Commencement tickets. All graduating students participating in University Commencement are required to register for tickets online—both for themselves and their guests.

  • Undergraduate degree candidates may register for up to four (4) guest tickets.
  • Graduate degree candidates may register for up to two (2) guest tickets.
  • All graduating students participating in University Commencement will need a graduate ticket to enter upper campus on the morning of University Commencement.

*Please note, ticket allocations are determined by the number of graduates, along with spatial and security constraints of campus.

**The Commencement Office is not able to provide additional tickets in advance or on Commencement Day at campus entry points. We encourage students to coordinate with classmates and peers who may not need all of their tickets. However, please contact your school for further assistance. To find the appropriate contact, visit School Ceremonies.

Guest Information

  • Every guest must present a guest ticket to access the University Commencement ceremonies at any general admission entrances for the outdoor seating area on South Lawn, or any indoor viewing locations. All children over the age of three require a ticket.
  • Guests of graduating students cannot directly register for tickets—graduates must do so on behalf of their guest(s).
  • At registration, guests will be assigned their specific locations on a first-come, first-served basis. All graduates will have the opportunity to register their guests for tickets on the South Lawn of the Morningside campus (outdoor venue). Once outdoor seating capacity is reached, multiple indoor venues will be available for registration within the University Commencement ticket platform.
  • Morningside campus will be closed to the general public all day, and guests will only be admitted to the specific ceremony and location indicated on their assigned ticket.

Livestream

For guests who are not able to attend, a live webcast of both the morning and evening University Commencement ceremonies will be available for online viewing on the day of Commencement. School ceremony webcasts will also be available.
