Thomas Reardon

Dr. Thomas Reardon ’08GS, ’13GSAS, ’16GSAS is a computational neuroscientist, technologist, and entrepreneur whose work spans the development of the modern web to the frontier of neural interfaces and human-computer interaction. At Microsoft, he initiated the Internet Explorer project and served as a founding board member of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), helping establish the open standards that still govern the web. He then enrolled at the School of General Studies, earning a BA magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa in Literature and Classical Languages, followed by an MS in Neurobiology from Duke and an MPhil and PhD in Neuroscience and Behavior from Columbia. He co-founded CTRL-labs with fellow Columbia neuroscientists to develop non-invasive neural interfaces. CTRL-labs was acquired by Meta, where Reardon served as Vice President for Research, culminating in a landmark 2025 Nature article and the release of the Meta Neural Band. He serves on the boards of the School of General Studies and the Zuckerman Institute.
