Shermin Koh

Shermin Koh is a Doctor of Nursing Practice student in the Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner track at Columbia University School of Nursing. Originally from Singapore, she brings an international and interdisciplinary lens to her work, holding prior degrees in Mass Communications, Psychology and Neuroscience, and Nursing. At Columbia, she has served as a teaching assistant for Med-Surg I, where she is known for her student-centered approach, mentorship, and ability to break down complex concepts with clarity and empathy. Shermin also leads as President of Nursing Students for Mental Health and founded Asian Nursing Students at Columbia, working to expand culturally competent care and student advocacy. Her teaching philosophy centers on inclusion, critical thinking, and empowering students to find meaning and confidence in their learning journey. Shermin is deeply committed to shaping the next generation of nurses through mentorship, advocacy, and trauma-informed psychiatric care.
