Joseph Lee

Joseph Lee is a fifth-year Ph.D. candidate in Physics at Columbia University, working in the group of Ana Asenjo-Garcia on quantum optics and open quantum systems. He previously earned his Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics from Columbia, where he received the Applied Physics Faculty Award. He is a recipient of both the Townes Fellowship and the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. Joseph is also a dedicated educator and has been recognized with the Allan Blaer Outreach and Inclusion Award and the Allan Sachs Teaching Award for his contributions to the physics community at Columbia. Outside of physics, he performs with the Columbia Koto Ensemble and also plays instruments including the double bass and haegeum.
