Event Hosts

Event Hosts provide welcoming support and guidance to graduates and their guests attending events on campus. They wear Commencement volunteer shirts (provided by the Commencement Office) so that they can be easily identified.

Medical Center Ceremonies

To volunteer as an Event Host for ceremonies held at the Medical Center, please fill out the Commencement Host Volunteer Survey or contact Clara Leon at cnl7@cumc.columbia.edu by April 3, 2019.

Marshals

Marshals play an important role in the University Commencement ceremony and the Baccalaureate Service, organizing and ushering both the academic procession and the degree candidate procession. They wear academic attire and participate directly in the program. Please note that no degree candidate may serve as a Marshal unless appointed as a Student Marshal by his or her school.
