There will be crowns and inflatable plastic lions, oversized rubber gavels, giant protractors, hammers, and enormous plastic toothbrushes as the Class of 2016 marches onto Low Plaza for Commencement.

Graduates from Columbia's 18 schools and affiliates carry objects representing their fields as they wait for University President Lee C. Bollinger to proclaim that they have been "admitted to the degree for which you have qualified." According to tradition, the University President gives the Commencement address.
