COVID-19 Inquiries

After extensive and careful consideration of public health guidelines, and the ongoing impact of COVID-19 on our communities, an in-person ceremony will not be possible this April. We are committed to celebrating the accomplishments of the Class of 2021 in a meaningful and memorable way. Please join us for a virtual University Commencement ceremony that will be webcast live on Friday, April 30, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. (EDT).

Please visit the Announcements page for the most current updates.

As referenced in the Provost’s Calendar Update, Commencement celebrations will begin during the last week of April. Please continue to check this website as more information will be announced throughout the Spring 2021 semester. Contact your individual school with questions related to Class Day Ceremonies and visit Announcements for the most current updates.

Diplomas will be mailed directly to students at the diploma (DP) address on file with Student Services Online (SSOL). Please be sure your address is up to date on SSOL and contact the Diploma Office at [email protected] with any additional questions.

Graduating Students may begin ordering regalia on Monday, March 1 with fulfillment beginning on March 15. Check with your individual school prior to placing your regalia order to find out more about any unique instructions. Learn more and place your order.

The University wants to minimize the risks associated with travel to students, their families, and guests. Traveling is still considered a high-risk activity as it is often not possible to maintain the proper physical distance. In addition, those traveling to campus from certain countries, states, or territories must self-quarantine as required by New York State.

Columbia University is committed to upholding traditions that can be implemented and reimagined to accommodate the safety of our global community. With the ongoing uncertainty of the obstacles ahead, individual schools are continually working to celebrate and recognize the accomplishments of their graduates in a way that is meaningful and befitting of this important achievement.

For the 2021 University Commencement ceremony, there are no ticket limits and pets ARE allowed. All are invited to tune in for the Commencement Day web broadcast on Friday, April 30, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. (EDT). Invite your friends, pets, and entire extended family from around the world to celebrate! Remember to take a photo or video of your festivities and tag @columbia #RoarLions2021
